A special urn in memory of a dearly departed person
You may be thinking about keeping the ashes of a dearly departed or beloved animal in an urn. Choosing an urn is very personal and depends on many elements. In this article, we offer advice on why a ceramic urn is a good choice.
We would like to apologize in advance for all the (technical) details, which - especially during a difficult time - can be very confronting. However, we feel it is very important to inform you as best we can around making the choice of the right size urn.
Benefits of ceramic urns
Urns can be found in all types, sizes, shapes, colors and materials. The most commonly used materials are ceramic, metal, wood, marble, glass, bronze, copper and steel. Artemis manufactures and sells only ceramic urns.
Frost-resistant
Because they are fired at high temperatures and coated with a frost-resistant glaze, ceramic urns are extremely weather-resistant, and thus can be placed both indoors and outdoors.
However, you must ensure that no water can seep into the urn (the inside is not always glazed). Therefore, we always recommend sealing the urn by gluing the lid (both for indoor and outdoor use).
If you are uncomfortable or not comfortable doing this, you can also leave it to the funeral director or crematorium. They usually charge a (small) fee for this.
An urn in your style
In addition to the material, shape and color also play an important role in making the right choice. Clay is a material that can be molded and turned into many shapes, allowing you to seamlessly match the style of a ceramic urn to your taste, your interior or your living environment. You can also choose an urn that matches the deceased's personal style and way of life. The shape, color and material of the urn are then in line with the deceased's taste.
Feel free to browse through our collection of ceramic urns and take your time to decide which model suits you or the deceased. We offer spherical, cylindrical, conical as well as jar-shaped urns.
Please note. Because each urn is unique and individually handmade by our ceramicists, the urn may vary slightly in shape & content from the image and information on the website.
Also suitable for pets
Ceramic urns are the perfect objects to preserve & cherish the beautiful memories of your beloved cat, dog, guinea pig, rabbit, etc.
Most people who have their pet cremated choose to keep the ashes in a small urn (mini urn or pet urn). The urn containing your beloved pet's ashes can then be given a nice spot in the house, on the patio or in the garden.

How much does a ceramic urn cost?
Urns come in many different price ranges. The price depends on the shape, volume, material used, degree of finish, shape of the lid, glaze and production time, among other factors.
All of Artemis ' urns are individually handcrafted, which naturally results in a higher cost than say urns produced on an assembly line.
